GREEN BAY- The Packers have opened training camp for the 2012 season and team president and CEO Mark Murphy can't wait for the season to start.

After a franchise-best 15-1 regular season record in 2011 and record net profits of 42.7 million dollars, Packers president Mark Murphy told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Afternoon News with John Mercure" the future is bright.

"We've had a lot of success on the field," said Murphy.  "I think we've really been able to ride the wave of the Super Bowl championship two years ago and then last year's 15-1 season."

Murphy says that revenue will go right back into the team and Lambeau Field, which has new high definition instant replay monitors and will add about 7,000 new seats in the south end zone by 2013.

He said making money is great, but not their primary goal.

"The main reason we exist is to win championships and field a competitive football team."

Murphy believes the current team they've put together can compete for the Super Bowl in 2012.

Also, Murphy recently changed his stance on wanting an 18-game schedule.

Speaking at the team's annual stockholders meeting at Lambeau Field on Tuesday, Murphy said he thinks the league should have two preseason games and the current 16-game schedule.

"With all the attention and focus on the health and safety of our players; the lawsuits we are facing from former players regarding concussion-related issues -- it would be very hard to support (an 18-game schedule)."
