Man frantically searches for missing Shih Tzu in Riverwest
MILWAUKEE- A beloved dog is believed to have been snatched right from someone's yard in Riverwest.
And this appears to be one of a series of pet nappings
An owner of a two-year-old Shih Tzu said his dog stolen out of a friend's back yard near E. North Ave. and N. Booth St. around two weeks ago.
Desperate to find her, the owner's offering a cash reward.
"I've lost a child. It's really..it's stressed me out quite a bit. I wonder where she is, if she's OK," pleaded Chris Hammerbeck.
His heartache is on display on the streets of this Riverwest neighborhood.
Flyers plead for help finding his dog names Anna.
Hammerbeck is confident Anna didn't disappear on her own. He said the fence is too high to hurdle and there are no cracks to slip under.
Whoever stole the dog took her collar off and left it lying in the yard
A couple on the upper-east side had a similar experience mid-May. A man snatched their Boston Terrier, Briggs, right off their deck.
Someone dropped Briggs off at a nearby church a few weeks later.
Hammerbeck is hopeful for a similar reunion and has message for the thief.
"Just do the right thing. Return her back to us. There's a good reward out there. Take the money...you can buy another dog with that. Just get my baby back to us," said Hammerbeck
Hammerbeck says a couple people he's talked to also had their dog stolen.
TODAY'S TMJ4 checked with both Milwaukee police and MADDAC -- neither have had an increase in such reports.
