Delafield squad car struck by tree while police investigate deadly crash
DELAFIELD - While Delafield Police and Fire crews were investigating a deadly crash Tuesday morning, a police lieutenant had a tree fall on his squad car.
Two people died in the crash which happened at about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Shortly afterward, Delafield Police Lieutenant Bob Hagen had the tree strike his car during a storm which came through the area.
"One of our squads that was parked on our scene, during the course of the investigation, a tree fell during the storm and just so happened to land on our squad," Hagen told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jodi Becker.
"It was my squad, and I was doing an on-camera interview at the time."
He said lots of trees in that area are simply older trees and more susceptible to falling.
"During storms, they come down. This time, it just works out that our squad was parked there."
