MILWAUKEE- New information about a fraud investigation involving a Milwaukee County official.

Freida Webb is suspended from her $89,000 a year county job while the investigation is underway.

An investigation we've learned centers around embezzlement and fraud.

After working for close to a decade on the 8th floor of the Milwaukee County City Campus Building -- Freida Webb, the Director of Community Business Development is not allowed inside.

The 63-year-old is under investigation for forgery, misconduct in public office and theft by fraud.

Investigators came here to Webb's office, seized her computer, escorted her out of the building after the investigation revealed she conspired with a local businessman to defraud the county out of thousands of dollars.

Court papers show "Ms. Webb managed the contract and orchestrated the fraudulent billing scheme."

She's accused of using her position to authorize her partner to get certain contracts.

The investigation shows she "double-billed" accounts and received "paid kickbacks".

"If she did (this) I don't know where she got the brain power from," said Freida Webb's brother Larry Webb.  "It doesn't sound like my sister at all."

Webb has not been charged yet.  She's suspended without pay, pending the outcome of this active investigation.  It's believed the fraud goes back three years.

Milwaukee County Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic will not comment until the investigation wraps up.
