The Brew City Floods two years later
WHITEFISH BAY - Nancy Eaton doesn't want to think about this day two years ago. The Whitefish Bay woman was just one of hundreds of people who's home flooded during the brew city floods. Eaton still hasn't remodeled her basement because she's worried about future flooding.
The summer storms of 2010 dumped nine inches of rain in a 48 hour period. Storm and sewer systems couldn't handle the amount of water. The overflow filled basements with rain water and sewage. One person died as a result of the storms.
Improvements are being made in some communities like Shorewood. Eaton said Whitefish Bay is still in the planning phase of making similar improvements to prevent future problems.
