Waukesha County Fair set to open Wednesday
WAUKESHA - It's the oldest county fair in Wisconsin, and on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., the Waukesha County Fair was set to open.
This is the 170th Waukesha County Fair. Admission has been set at $2 for Wednesday.
Fair Director Sherry Black says one new thing you'll find this year is a display of normally-fierce felines.
"We have a tiger encounter, in which you get really close to the tigers. They will put on an educational display, so you'll be able to learn something as well," said Black on Newsradio 620 WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Morning News."
The drought is set to be a topic of discussion there.
"The last I can remember, my dad talked a lot about the drought of '88. I remember the grass being really brown at that time. I would say we definitely are worse off so far than 1988."
Classic hard rock bands headline the festival, with Foreigner on Friday and Cinderella on Saturday.
The fair runs:
- Wednesday: 3:00-10:00 p.m.
- Thursdsay: 12:00-11:00 p.m.
- Friday: 12:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m.
- Sunday: 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
Tickets are normally $9 for adults, $3 for children who are 6-12 years old, and free for children under 5 years old.
