Racine county village president could face recall election
ELMWOOD PARK, Wis. - An effort is now underway to recall a village president in Racine county.
A recall committee has so far submitted 109 signatures to try to recall Elmwood Park village president Audrey Viau.
Village Clerk Veronica Rudychev said only 66 valid signatures are needed.
The committee's desire to see Viau recalled reportedly stems from an issue over a developer's proposal to build a Walmart on the site of a vacant grocery store and adjacent residential property.
Former Elmwood Park Trustee Tom Mills has already offered to challenge Viau in a recall election.
According to the Journal Times of Racine, a recall election would likely be held in September.
