Curfew policies to remain at State Fair
WEST ALLIS - There will be elevated levels of security at the Wisconsin State Fair again this year, officials announced Wednesday.
A curfew policy was immediately implemented last year after a melee broke out on opening night. A large group of out-of-control teenagers spilled into the streets.
Attendees under 18-years-old will need to be with a parent or guardian after 5pm, officials said.
"(Attendees) will be addressed as they park their cars that they can expect a bag check, they can expect the ID check after 5:00pm," said State Fair Park CEO Rick Frenette. "People last year showed us they were very pleased that we were doing this and making State Fair safe."
Crews have also installed new surveillance across the grounds.
