Man drowns after jumping into river for a swim
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Police say an Oshkosh man drowned after jumping from a bridge into the Fox River for a swim.
Witnesses told police the 52-year-old man was intoxicated when he jumped from the Main St. bridge in Oshkosh Monday afternoon, tried swimming back to the river bank, but went under.
The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department dive team recovered the man's body. He was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center.
The police department says the death has been ruled an accidental drowning.
