MILWAUKEE- Lawns are struggling in moderate drought conditions in southeast Wisconsin.

That means extra work for John Michels, a salesman and irrigation designer at Milwaukee Lawn Sprinkler Corp.

"We have been very busy with this wonderful dry weather," said Michels to Wisconsin's Afternoon News with John Mercure.

Michels said they are more than willing to help design and build irrigation systems for people this summer, but they have to smart on how they approach each lawn.

"With this dry weather, even us putting sprinkler systems in, we have to be careful with the lawns because they are in complete dormancy right now," said Michels.

He warns that lawns need to maintained and watered consistently -- otherwise you can get brown spots and your lawn won't grow properly.

Even if you don't get an irrigation system, you can start watering now said Michels -- but he urges it can be an arduous process to keep up and treat your lawn properly in these dry conditions.

Governor Walker recently issued a state of emergency due to drought or abnormally dry conditions.
