MUSKEGO - Muskego police said Monday that a 62-year-old man died when a vehicle crashed into a bicycle.

Robert Gunderson died after the crash.

It happened at about 3:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon on Woods Road near Maclen Drive.

The vehicle also crashed into a utility pole.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash.

Flowers mark the spot where 62-year-old Robert Gunderson was struck and killed.  Police told TODAY'S TMJ4 Gunderson was peddling east on Woods Road when a 20 year-old man heading in the opposite direction lost control of his car.  It's unclear if he feel asleep, or what distracted him.

Investigators have not charged the driver but they are trying to determine what made the 20-year-old cross the lane, run over Gunderson and crash into the utility pole.

"The windshield was totally smashed and I remember thinking the driver had to be hurt if there wasn't an airbag pretty seriously," said David Bartram, who lives near the crash.

Friends told TODAY'S TMJ4 he was a musician and avid cyclist.
