Blue green algae could be toxic following hot weather
MADISON - Hot dry weather has caused a problem for wet places in Wisconsin.
Blue green algae is blooming on many Wisconsin lakes, streams and ponds and the department of natural resources says it's toxic.
Water that looks like pea soup, or that contains scum in the colors of green, blue, white, red or brown is suspicious.
Some symptoms of blue-green algae poisoning include rashes, gastrointestinal pain and respiratory irritation.
The DNR says pets are also at risk.
