Boa constrictor on loose in Whitewater
WHITEWATER- Whitewater police are looking for a six-seven foot Red Tail Colombian Boa Constrictor snake after a burglary in the 300 block of N. Fremont St. early Thursday morning.
According to a press release, the home was burglarized during 3 a.m. and 6 a.m., and during that time, a large snake enclosure containing the Boa constrictor was damaged and the snake has not been found as of Friday afternoon.
Whitewater police is working with the homeowner and experienced professionals to look for the snake.
Authorities urge people in the area to be on the lookout for the snake and to contact police at (262) 473-0555 if they locate it.
According to city law, it is illegal to keep a snake in your home.
Under ordinance 9.16.010, "no person shall keep, within the limits of the city any of the following: (a) Wild animals; (b) Dangerous animals; (c) Crocodiles or alligators; (d) Poisonous snakes or reptiles."
