WAUWATOSA- Hot and dry conditions couldn't stop the Wauwatosa fireworks

It was a nailbiter for some folks who wondered if the show would happen at all, given recent conditions.  Crews watered down the grass at Hart Park for days to make sure Independence Day included fireworks.

"Obviously with the dry heat and conditions we've had the last week, this is probably the worst i can remember," said Wauwatosa Deputy Fire Chief Kurt Dressnandt

It had some worried the show might not go on.

Anita Cwiklinski has come down to watch the fireworks for years, but has never seen conditions like this.

"Yeah to be honest with you I was," said Cwiklinski.  "With all this dead grass around here, it's always a concern."

And so was the safety of everyone waiting to watch, braving stifling conditions before the big show.

"That's one reason why we put three tents up instead of usually just one to try to make it so we have more shade for everybody," said Robert Wahl of the Boy Scouts.

Who better to prepare you than the Boy Scouts, who were on hand selling food and drinks to keep the heat from hitting the crowd.  But it was worth it, to celebrate July 4th, and everything that goes with it.

"This is what we enjoy and look forward to (July) 4th because of the sense of community and also the fireworks," said Cwiklinski.
