Heat causing roads to buckle across Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- With the state baking under extreme temperatures that caused roads to buckle in four counties, the National Weather Service has issued excessive-heat warnings for most of southern Wisconsin.
The state Department of Health Services has also issued a public-health advisory. Officials ask residents to take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion, and to check on vulnerable neighbors and family members.
Temperatures are expected to range from the mid- to upper 90s, with heat indices up to 105 degrees.
Residents who don't have access to air conditioning can check http://ready.wi.gov to see if their communities have opened cooling shelters.
High temperatures caused roads to buckle Tuesday in Chippewa, Columbia, Dane and Lincoln counties. All lanes reopened by Wednesday. Motorists can call 511 for information on possible delays.
