BROOKFIELD- An eight-year-old girl was listed in very critical condition at Children's Hospital Wednesday morning after she was found unconscious at the Wirth Park Aquatic Center.

Lifeguards pulled the child from the pool Tuesday afternoon and started CPR after she wasn't breathing around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Rescue crews arrived on the scene within minutes and then rushed her to Children's Hospital.

TODAY'S TMJ4 reports the child came to pool with the New Berlin Parks and Recreation Department.

The pool closed Tuesday and reopened Wednesday.

Jason Glembin and his kids were one of the first in line Wednesday at Wirth Park Aquatic Center.

He said Tuesday's incident is on his mind, and he's making sure his kids are safe.

"They've been swimming since they were 3 or 4, and I'm confident they can swim wherever when we're in the lakes in 30 feet deep.  I don't worry about them," said Glembin.

Many parents say they're not concerned when they can keep a watchful eye on their kids in the pool, but it's when their kids are on a trip with a camp that makes them nervous.

"There's maybe one or two chaperons per 15-20 kids. I don't feel that's enough," said Glembin.  "If I'm not there with them in the pool, then i don't let them go."

Melanie Jesko makes her kids use the buddy system while at camp, to make sure they are safe.

"We're a little nervous, but I know my oldest can swim.  He's just starting to learn," said Jesko.  "We talk about pool safety, and we tell them to make sure we know where you both are, and just keep an eye on each other."

Parents at the pool told TODAY'S TMJ4 their thoughts and prayers are with the eight-year-old girl.

Police are still investigating to find out exactly what happened to the little girl.
