MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that a third person had died as a result of a wrong-way crash Monday morning on US-41.
Kathlene L. Flessert, 45, died at Froedtert Memorial Hospital after spending the previous two days there in critical condition.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department said that 22-year-old Takeya S. Walker was driving the wrong way when she struck 23-year-old Deandre L. Jackson around 1:20 a.m. Monday on northbound US-41 near State Street. Both were killed in the crash.
Raw video from TODAY'S TMJ4 shows at least three vehicles which were heavily mangled after the crash.
Witnesses told the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department that the woman was driving southbound in the northbound lanes on US-41 when it collided head-on with another vehicle.
Both vehicles spun out, leading to two more vehicles becoming involved in the crashes.
Both Walker and Jackson were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the fourth car and his passenger, said to be 21 and 23 years old, were believed to be OK.
"I was kind of surprised for that to happen that way in the first place because not to many accidents on that highway," Rick Hibbler, who lives in the area, told TODAY'S TMJ4's Nick Montes.
A sheriff's spokeswoman said that the wrong-way driver never had a driver license.
