Smokers angry about new cigarette rule crowd store
MILWAUKEE - As of 12am Sunday, smokers who have been getting a discount by rolling-their-own cigarettes will be forced to pay higher prices.
President Obama's signature on an amendment to the Transporation Bill means there are new rules for tobacco shops, like Smoke-N-Deals in Milwaukee.
Timothy Maas who has been smoking the past eight years frequents that store to save money on his habit and he's not at all happy with the change.
Maas says the line was out the door at times Saturday at Smoke N Deals as smokers tried to stock up on supplies.
While a typical smoker can spend up to 50 dollars on a carton of cigarettes in the Milwaukee are, Maas says he's been able to buy the materials to produce a comparable amount of cigarettes for about $33.
Maas says he'd like to tell President Obama that the new rule just doesn't make sense.
