Carroll University taking precautions after alleged sexual assault on campus
WAUKESHA- Carroll University is taking precautions after two assaults were reported this week.
The university is in summer session so there are fewer students here on campus. That's why students are urged to be even more vigilant after police say a man sexually assaulted a 19-year-old student twice .
As Lindsay O'Keefe walks along Grand Avenue near Frontier Hall at Carroll University -- she's forced to stay alert. That is where police are investigating a repeat sexual assault of a 19-year-old student.
"I was kind of shocked because I feel safe here I didn't think something like his would happen, but I guess it can happen anywhere," said O'Keefe.
Police say back on June 18 around 8 p.m. a woman told them a man started a conversation as she walked.
"Asks her if she's married, ask if she has a boyfriend and then he proceeds to hug her, pulling her into to him fondling her buttocks and kissing her on the lips and neck," described Sgt. Jerry Habanek of Waukesha Police Department.
The woman broke free and ran home but she did not call police.
Sgt. Habanek said his department didn't get involved until this week. That's when woman told investigators the man spotted her walking Tuesday night and did the same thing.
"It's a serious crime anytime there's any type of sexual assault we take it very seriously," said Sgt. Habanek.
The victim told police the man has heavy Spanish accent with a tattoo on his right arm.
The victim is down at the police station helping detectives with a composite sketch.
According to a news release, another assault happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. A student walking in a group was slightly injured at the intersection of Grand Ave. and Carroll St.
Authorities describe the suspects in that incident as two Hispanic men about 18 years old, 5' 3'' tall with buzz-cut hair.
