Tasting some of Summerfest's quirky food choices

MILWAUKEE- Summerfest is also about food and vendors are stepping it up this year -- dishing out plenty of old Summerfest favorites, but also some quirky choices.

First stop for TODAY'S TMJ's Cody Holyoke, Angelo's near the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse had an interesting take on an Italian classic: a portable and deep fried version of lasagna.

"The reason I invented it is it's a perfect festival food.  So I just mixed our famous lasagna into something you can carry around and eat at the same time,' said Angelo's owner.

Of course, you can't have festival food without trying big food.

One local restaurant is dishing out more than two feet of Chicago hot dog, designed to share with the whole family.

Martino's owner T.J. Anderson uses a special dog and tons of toppings for this crowd pleaser.

"It was never intended to be a challenge. It was more intended to be what's something unique," said Anderson.

If you still have room for more, John Hawk's is cooking up Scotch eggs on a stick.

Just one of many concepts that could make Summerfest history.

Here's another new one -- barbecue egg rolls.

Of course, if you need to wash this stuff down, you can find many different types of beverages on the festival grounds.
