Municipalities in Milwaukee area implement burn bans
MILWAUKEE - Several towns and cities have implemented a burn ban due to conditions caused by the lack of rain in our area.
Those municipalities include:
- Beloit (Rock County)
- Big Bend (Waukesha County)
- Brookfield (Waukesha County)
City of Brookfield Fire Chief Charlie Myers has issued an immediate ban on burning, and the use of all fireworks including sparklers and caps, according to a press release. This ban is the result of extremely severe drought conditions.
This ban includes fires in all outdoor fireplaces, pits, burning lawn waste, camp fires and the private use of consumer fireworks including sparklers, caps and novelty fireworks.

- Chenequa (Waukesha County)
- Darien (Walworth County)
Ban includes outdoor fire pits, fireplaces and fireworks. Grills can be used for cooking food.
- Delafield (Waukesha County)
- Dover (Racine County)
- Delavan (Walworth County)
The Journal Sentinel reports the city of Delavan has canceled its fireworks display; issuing a burning ban on fireworks and on burning materials outside. Charcoal and gas grills and camp stoves are allowed on private property and city parks, if placed 20 feet away from vegetation.
- Eagle (Waukesha County)
All outdoor burning is prohibited, including fireworks and campfires.
- East Troy (Walworth County)
Walworth County Today reports the town of East Troy also issued a burn ban of any type of fires, including campfires, brush and yard waste. The ban also includes fireworks.
- Elm Grove (Waukesha County)
Elm Grove is canceling their July 4 fireworks celebration. The village has imposed a complete outdoor burning ban, to include all personal fireworks, such as sparklers, snakes and like combustibles, according to a press release. This burning ban extends to all outdoor fire pits and outdoor fireplaces.
- Franklin (Milwaukee County)
The city's fire chief issued a ban on open burning until "a significant amount of rain has fallen to reduce the hazardous conditions," according to the city's web site.
- Genesee (Waukesha County)
According to LivingLakeCountry.com, the ban involves all outdoor burning. Cooking on grills is still allowed.
- Germantown (Washington County)
In a news release, the city cited the dry conditions for their burning ban.
- Greendale (Milwaukee County)

The town's web site says a burning ban has been put in place until further notice.

Walworth County Today is reporting that Lake Geneva's fire chief has issued a ban on all open burning and consumer fireworks use. The ban also included outdoor fireplaces or pits and the private use of consumer fireworks, sparklers and novelty fireworks.
- Lake Mills (Jefferson County)
According to a press release, the burning ban includes all open flames, recreational and cooking fires, and other sources of ignition, including any form of fireworks, or the use of smoking materials outside an enclosed structure or enclosed vehicle.

The city is not allowing any outside burning, but they will allow charcoal and gas grills.

According to LivingLakeCountry.com, all outside burning has been banned, but people can still use their grills.
