Police: Madison repeat offender jumps from balcony
MADISON- Madison police have arrested a 32-year-old man who jumped from a second-story balcony while trying to escape officers.
The man is one of 10 repeat violent offenders targeted in a new program launched last fall. The Wisconsin State Journal reports he was being held Monday in Dane County Jail for an alleged probation violation and a tentative charge of resisting or obstructing police.
According to police, detectives went to a second-floor apartment last Thursday. The man quickly started moving toward a balcony, then jumped.
With detectives chasing him, the man jumped an 8-foot chain link fence. He was taken into custody just before noon at Madison Metro Transit's South Transfer Point.
