Andy Geiger, the former Ohio State University athletic director was named as athletic director of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletic program, Thursday by UWM Chancellor Mike Lovell . The appointment represents a coup for UWM, which has been reeling from instability after going through two athletic directors as well as interim athletic directors since 2009. UWM Chancellor Mike Lovell said in a statement that Geiger, 73, Òpossesses leadership qualities to bring stability and continuity to UWM athletics during this transitional phase." Geiger has a contract with UWM that takes him through July 2013. Journal Sentinel Sentinel photo by Rick Wood/RWOOD@jOURNALSENTINEL.COM Image by Rick Wood
