Criminals targeting River Falls Rec. Center in Greenfield
GREENFIELD- When it comes to safety, one would think the River Falls Recreation Center is in the perfect spot with the police station across the street.
But, the place keeps getting robbed.
Alicia Doxtater loves coming to watch her son hit at the batting cages there.
"My son loves the batting cages. He's on little league so it's good practice," Doxtater says.
With the facility just across the way from the police station, she finds that thieves hitting one of their favorite hangouts ironic.
"Because it's so close to the police station that people would be hesitant to rob a recreation place," she says.
But, thieves showed no hesitation, breaking in and stealing the heavy ATM. Greenfield police say one of the suspects arrested by Wauwatosa police in a rash of other ATM burglaries. Even with video, Greenfield investigators are having a difficult time linking him to the ATM burglary at the center.
"We got an ADT security system and all that, but it seems it just hasn't seem to be working you know," Kyle Binter, an employee says.
And with that, thieves came in again stole money out of the register, even with five cameras recording from above and the police station right across the street.
"It's just funny to me that, you know nothing is happening about it," Binter says.
But, Greenfield police are on the case and claim they know who the burglar is. The owner wants justice.
"I can't believe people would do it - but in this day and age people will do anything," Loretta Kleczka, the center's owner says.
Patrons say they feel very safe here despite the robberies. If you know anything about this burglary you are asked to call Greenfield Police.
