Triathlete drowns in Calumet County
SHERWOOD - An Illinois man drowned in Lake Winnebago during the High Cliff Triathlon at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, the Calumet County Sheriff's Department said.
The organizers of the event, Midwest Sports Events of De Pere, had volunteer lifeguards on site when Doug Witmer, 42, drowned.
The incident is still under investigation.
