MILWAUKEE- Milwaukee police are saying that a woman who was bit by a dog in Shorewood lied about the bite to avoid having the dog put down.

The woman originally told TODAY'S TMJ4 she approached the dog, which she claimed to be a stray when it attacked her in Shorewood.  Now, police claim the woman is a professional dog walker and she was walking the dog Thursday afternoon at E. Locust St. and N. Shepard Ave. in Milwaukee when it became startled and bit the woman in face.

Shorewood police discovered the woman was lying during their investigation and have now handed the case over to Milwaukee police for a follow up.  MPD says they will refer the matter to the Milwaukee Health Department.

Authorities had been looking for the dog after the woman sought medical treatment.
