East Troy mother pleads guilty in drowning deaths of infant twins
EAST TROY- The mother accused of sleeping while her 11-month-old twins drowned in a bathtub last year pleaded guilty Thursday to one felony count of neglecting a child (consequence is death) and one misdemeanor count of neglecting a child.
Melody Butt was charged with two felony counts of neglecting a child (consequence is death) and two misdemeanor counts of neglecting a child.
Court documents reveal that Butt apparently woke up when her roommate came home and found the babies in the overflowing bathtub.
Butt's other two kids, 6 and 2, were home at the time.
Butt will be sentenced on July 31 at 8:30 a.m. She faces a maximum of nearly 30 years in prison.
