Milwaukee company makes flood-preventing concrete

MILWAUKEE - A local business has come up with a new way to prevent flooding.

Spancrete is producing a new kind of pavement.

It helps rainwater flow into the ground instead of directly into sewers.

"Previous concrete is like Rice Krispies, so it has a lot of voids in it.  As you can see with the water flow going through it, it allows the water to pass right through.  But the strength of the concrete is equivalent to standard concrete" explained Dan Willems of Spancrete.

The company also says that sidewalk slabs can even be installed during winter.
