MILWAUKEE- Major Nancy Evans is in charge of the county jail and the house of correction in Franklin.

She's now been put on leave.

Almost two years ago -- she gave TODAY'S TMJ4 a tour of the county correctional facility in Franklin after a corrections officer was attacked.

Several sources confirm to TODAY'S TMJ4 that Evans was escorted from the building.  Those same sources told TODAY'S TMJ4 the investigation focuses around tens of thousands of dollars that may have been embezzled.

No one from the Milwaukee County sheriff's office will go on camera about the case.  However, they did confirm for that Evans is under investigation and has been on leave since May 25.  Since Evans hasn't been charged -- she is still getting paid.
No one answered the door at her Milwaukee home Friday afternoon.  Evans has been with the department since 1997.  Sheriff Clarke appointed her to her current role this year.
