Multiple law enforcement agencies investigating Walker death threats
MADISON- Governor Walker gets online threats after recall victory and now, the Department of Justice is involved.
A video posted to YouTube shows an anti-Walker protester threatening the Walker campaign. In the video a protester said, "We're coming after them anyways, it doesn't matter, win or lose."
He then turns his hatred toward Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch. "Hopefully colon cancer will take her before we get her...just get the f*** out of the state."
The Milwaukee Police Department and the Department of Justice are looking into multiple threats, like several TODAY'S TMJ4 found on Twitter. One says, "Scott walker will die within the next week ive already payed for the hit" another one takes it a step farther, threatening the governor's children. "...I Know What School Scott Walker Son Go To…"
TODAY'S TMJ4 tried tracking down the people behind some of the threats. Nobody was home at the addresses we had listed. But the DOJ says these folks can't hide behind a computer and could face criminal charges.
Meanwhile, Governor Walker didn't give the threats much thought Wednesday, saying they won't get in the way of what he wants to do. "You don't ever compromise your safety but I'm never going to let that stand in the way of doing my job and being out with the people across the state of Wisconsin."
The DOJ says they take any threat against someone's safety, or that of their family, very seriously.
They're asking anyone with information to come forward. Individuals with information relating to any threats are asked to contact the DCI at (608) 266-1671.
