CAMPBELLSPORT - Charges were filed Wednesday in a crash that killed three teenagers in Campbellsport in February.

Carly Ottery, 18, faces those charges in the death of Katie Berg, Caitlin Scannell and Sabrian Stahl.

The SUV Ottery was driving, with eight other teens inside, crashed when she lost control.

According to charging documents just filed, Ottery told deputies her friends "weren't wearing seatbelts" and "I was driving fast because it was cool."

"Speed at over 100 miles per hour at the start of the crash sequence.  There were more passengers in the vehicle than there were seatbelts available," noted Winnebago County District Attorney Christian Gossett.

The Fond du Lac district attorney's office filed three charges of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle.  Ottery could spend 30 years in prison, if convicted on all charges.
Prosecutors will not say if any of the families involved wanted these criminal charges.
People in Campbellsport are reluctant to speak publicly about what happened, but some quietly question the charges -- telling TODAY'S TMJ4 off camera they believe Carly Ottery is already serving a life sentence with the emotions from that day.

TODAY'S TMJ4 reached out to Carly Ottery's family and they did not want to comment.

She's due in court for this first time in June.
