Dominican basketball coach placed on leave following arrest
WHITEFISH BAY - A popular north shore high school basketball coach has been placed on paid leave following his arrest.
Paul Wollersheim is the athletic director and boys basketball coach at Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay.
TODAY'S TMJ4 has learned Wollersheim was been placed on paid administrative leave Tuesday after he got bailed out of jail.
The head of the school, Colleen Brady, told TODAY'S TMJ4 Wollersheim is accused of sexually assaulting a female teacher inside Dominican early Friday morning.
He was arrested Friday, May 25.
"Students were not here. School was out, so officially summer had begun," said Brady. "I want to assure everybody that the incident that allegedly has been accused of does not involve any students."
While school is out for the summer, Brady notified parents by email Tuesday morning.
She's simply in shock.
"He's been on our staff here for 18 or 17 years and I think stunned would probably be a good adjective to use."
Brady told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Keller Russell that Wollersheim has no previous record of problems at the school.
Whitefish Bay police refused to comment on the arrest and allegations.
Wollersheim spent the weekend in the county jail and the Sensitive Crime Unit with the district attorney's office is investigating.
Wollersheim has not been charged.
When we went to his house to get his side of the story, no one answered the door.
Back at the high school, Ms. Brady says they'll remain patient and in prayer for everyone involved. She has a message for the community.
"Our students are safe. They've always been safe and they will continue to be."
Wollersheim is out of jail on $1,000 bond. He's expected to be in court Wednesday.
