Discovery World unveils Summerfest 45th anniversary exhibit tonight
MILWAUKEE - The world's largest music festival is marking its 45th year with Thursday night's unveiling of an exhibit at Milwaukee's Discovery World Museum, just blocks from the Summerfest Grounds.
"This exhibit is going to be a lot of fun," said Summerfest Vice President of Sales and Marketing John Boler on Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Wisconsin's Morning News about the Summerfest Tribute Exhibit that opens Thursday at 6:00 p.m. with a two-hour kickoff party.
"It's a great way to turn back the hands of time and take a look at the history of Summerfest...get up close with a lot of the musical items, memorabilia items."
Autographed guitars, photographs and lots of other memorabilia will go on display through mid-September at Discovery World.
"We've been stashing it and accumulating it over the years," explained Boler. "We've been looking for a good occasion to bring them out."
People who attend Thursday's kickoff party will get a combined $5 admission rate to see both the Summerfest and Les Paul exhibits, and they will also receive a free July 4th Summerfest ticket and a t-shirt.
