NEW BERLIN- A woman who died recently will finally be laid to rest next to her husband.

A legal technicality was preventing that, but after a TODAY'S TMJ4 report, the woman can now have her burial wish fulfilled.

Jeanette Shields told TODAY'S TMJ4 that her mother's ashes were sitting on a shelf at a funeral home for the last six weeks -- instead of in the ground with her husband of fifty years.

The family owns a burial plot -- and needed all of Edna's brothers to give permission for her to be buried there.

"It just didnt seem fair that my mother couldnt get buried in a plot that has been owned by my family for fifty years," said Jeanette Shields.

Two of Edna's three brothers gave their approval, but Shields couldn't find the third brother.  He vanished 40 years ago and changed his name.  She told TODAY'S TMJ4 she had no where to turn.

TODAY'S TMJ4 tracked down the brother's death certificate and gave it to the owner of the cemetery.

He's agreed to go ahead with the burial.  "I can't thank you and channel four enough for helping me and my family to resolve this issue and for us to have closure and to have my mom resting in peace," exclaimed Jeanette Shields.

Jeanette told TODAY'S TMJ4 she expects to have her mother in her final resting place next to her husband within the next couple weeks.

The family won't have to pay for the burial.
