Milwaukee's LGBT: Obama's announcement represents historic national moment
MILWAUKEE- Milwaukee's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community Center said that President Obama's announcement supporting marriage equality for all committed adults, "represents a historic moment in our nation's long journey toward our shared vision of equal treatment of all people."
President Barack Obama declared unequivocal support for gay marriage on Wednesday, becoming the first president to endorse the politically explosive idea and injecting a polarizing issue into the 2012 race for the White House.
"It has been a long journey, but I'm glad that he (President Obama) finally joined us," said Jennifer Morales, Co-President, Center Board of Directors of LGBT Community Center to Newsradio 620 WTMJ. "I really see this as a point on the trajectory towards fair treatment of all people."
The LGBT Community Center said they are looking forward to seeing the president's statement translated into law.
