MILWAUKEE -- Fifteen-hundred needy families received food to celebrate Easter week.

Palermo's pizza provided Easter baskets, each with 50 pounds of food, to the Hunger Task Force on Wednesday.

"It's important because so many people cant buy special holiday foods," said Sherrie Tussler with the Hunger Task Force. "Being able to have a ham or a turkey on the table at Easter is super important...knowing that your potatoes are going to be fresh, having some jellybeans to give to the kids..."

In total, 60,000 pounds of food was provided.

"It's important to celebrate the holidays and a lot of low income people cant afford those foods," Tussler said. "So Palermo's is making it possible for people to have a blessed Easter."

Palermo's has provided Easter meals for 7,500 families during the last seven years.
