Relatives of local soldier react to President Obama's speech
MILWAUKEE - President Obama's new plan in Afghanistan is of particular interest to people in southeast Wisconsin who have loved ones serving overseas.
TODAY'S TMJ4 spoke with a man who's son is a civilian contractor at Bagram Air Field where the president spoke. He's proud of the work his son is doing and grateful for the troops keeping him safe.
"When he first went over there, i thought maybe they're going to look down on him, you're a civilian," explains Marty Goldstein. "As far as i can tell he's blended right in and they've helped him."
He adds his son Adam is helping the country.
"I think a contract with schools and things of that nature so he's actually not helping tear down the country, he's helping build it up."
Adam will have been in Bagram a year in June. Thats when his contract was supposed to end - however it's been extended so he will be there a bit longer.
