Packers trade up for Spartans DT Worthy in Round 2
GREEN BAY- The Green Bay Packers traded up to get more help for their defense, taking Michigan State defensive lineman Jerel Worthy with the No. 51 overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft on Friday.
The 6-2, 308-pound Worthy had 12 sacks and 27.5 tackles for losses in three seasons for the Spartans.
The Packers sent the No. 59 overall pick to Philadelphia in the trade, along with a fourth-round pick, the No. 123 overall.
Green Bay also has the 90th overall selection in the third round later Friday night. The Packers made a move to fill perhaps their most pressing need in Thursday's first round, taking USC outside linebacker Nick Perry.
