Tasting event for champion cheeses comes to Monroe
MONROE, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin connoisseurs of fine cheese now have a good excuse to indulge their palates.
A charity group is holding a tasting event Friday evening in south-central Wisconsin. Attendees will be able to sample 90 to 100 of the world's top cheeses.
The proceeds will help fund religious, educational and nonprofit organizations in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
The affair is called the Championship Cheese Tasting event, and will be held in Monroe. The cheeses available for sampling were all entrants in the 2012 World Championship Cheese Contest in Madison.
A $20 donation covers cheese, dinner and beer.
The event is sponsored by the Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association and the Foreign Type Cheesemakers.
A Monroe Times report (http://bit.ly/JDlts8 ) says the proceeds will benefit the Monsignor Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund.
