FOX POINT - A new European market has opened in Fox Point, creating dozens of new jobs.

With the crack of Parmesan cheese, Fresh Market has opened for business.

The market offers employee-customer interaction, a lot of samples and a variety of food.

"I know, even if it's out of season, I'll find it.  That's what I like the best," said shopper Bonnie Bruckman.

"It is nice to have a variety.  There's a few other markets, but it's nice to have a variety,"? said shopper Cynthia Lucius.

Some people said what stands out is the 90 new jobs, with most of the full-time and part-time employees hired locally.

"That's good.  That's good, especially after today's headline," said Bruckman, who was referring to how Wisconsin is the only state in the nation with statistically significant job losses last year, losing more than 23,000 jobs.

"On Brown Deer (Road), so many places are closed, and I want them to open so more people can get jobs.  It's sad.  It's depressing," expressed Bruckman.

The State Department of Workforce Development said the state's unemployment rate is the lowest that it has been since 2008.
