Moore supports Barrett in recall race
MILWAUKEE- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett got another endorsement in his battle to become Wisconsin's next governor.
U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Milwaukee) threw her support behind Barrett on Monday. Democratic U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl and U.S. Rep. Dave Obey have also supported Barrett.
Barrett is running in the May 8 Democratic primary against former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) and Secretary of State Doug La Follette.
The winner will take on Scott Walker in the general election on June 5.
Falk has been endorsed by major unions.
Moore released the following statement:
"I am proud to endorse Tom Barrett for governor today. Tom will fight for Wisconsin working and middle class families. He will restore worker rights that were needlessly assaulted by Scott Walker. He will defend and strengthen education in Wisconsin, which Scott Walker cut so drastically. And with Tax Day just around the corner, Tom Barrett will restore tax fairness in Wisconsin by ending Walker's big tax breaks to the rich and the big corporations, and restoring tax relief for seniors and the working poor that Walker slashed. I am so proud to stand with Tom Barrett because as our governor he will fight for all of these values. And Tom gives all of us who are so passionately committed to restoring our Wisconsin values the best chance of defeating Scott Walker on June 5th."
