Suspect in custody after two county chase
DEERFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities say citizens' tips helped them arrest a man they suspected was armed after he fled from deputies in Jefferson and Dane County early Friday.
Deputies used Dane County's reverse 911 notification system to alert residents about the suspect and went door to door in the area. Authorities say they got numerous tips on the suspect's whereabouts and found him in a field near Deerfield. He dropped his weapon after deputies raised their guns. It was later determined the weapon was a soft air gun that looked like a semi-automatic handgun.
Deputies had earlier chased the suspect, who was driving a stolen car, through Jefferson and Dane counties. He took off on foot after a wheel fell off the car.
