Suspect fleeing Jefferson, Dane Co. deputies may have gun
DEERFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for a man who eluded Jefferson and Dane County deputies in a stolen car and on foot and may be armed.
Jefferson County sheriff's deputies began pursuing a stolen Mitsubishi Eclipse shortly after midnight Friday. The chase eventually reached Dane County on Highway 12/18 where deputies put down spike strips. The suspect drove over them, lost a wheel and came to a stop.
Deputies say the driver fled on foot with what appeared to be a dark colored handgun.
The Town of Madison police dog and handlers tried tracking the suspect, but were unsuccessful.
Residents in the area were warned to be on the look out for the suspect, described as a white male, 30 years old, 6 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing about 190 lbs, with a crew cut hairstyle.
