Walker makes jobs announcement amidst ever-shaping recall race
WEST BEND - More jobs are coming to Wisconsin.
Governor Scott Walker made an announcement about jobs in West Bend, and it came as new details of his recall election are emerging.
Spaulding Clinical Research is creating 183 new jobs. The company specializes in cardiac safety testing.
Wednesday's announcement comes in the midst of the looming recall election.
A Marquette Law School poll revealed that Walker has a slight advantage on both Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, who has not yet announced that he is throwing his hat in the ring.
"Polls go up and down," said Walker to TODAY'S TMJ4's Melissa McCrady. "The only poll that really matters is the one taken on June 5th."
Barrett was expected to make his decision and announce it next week, although all signs show he is expected to run against Falk and others in a Democratic primary, and possibly Walker in a general election.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel came to Milwaukee on Wednesday to campaign on Barrett's behalf.
"It doesn't matter to me. In the end, my opposition is the out of state money from the big government union bosses. It's not going to be a particular name on the ballot."
