SLINGER - A report says a Slinger homeowner knew police were nearby when he shot a man he thought was breaking into his home.
Washington County District Attorney Mark Bensen decided last week that homeowner Adam Kind acted in self-defense when he killed 20-year-old Bo Morrison, of West Bend. Morrison was one of about 20 people at an underage drinking party next door, and hid in Kind's enclosed porch.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the prosecutor's decision raises the question of why Kind chose to get a gun when officers were less than 300 feet away.
The newspaper says the case is also a reminder of the potential stakes of armed self-defense.
Kind's attorney, Craig Mastantuono, says didn't know just how close the officers were and feared he was in imminent danger.
