BEAVER DAM, Wis. - Three people escaped serious injury after their car collided with a freight train in Beaver Dam Saturday afternoon

It happened around 2:30 in the afternoon along Highway 151 as the car was southbound and the train was eastbound.

Dodge County Police Lieutenant Brandon Stommel tells Newsradio 620/WTMJ that according to witnesses, the driver of the car sped up when he saw the train coming, and it was just plain luck that they didn't get hurt.

The car clipped the front of the 28-car train, which was carrying ethanol, and the three in the car were out walking around when sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene.

Highway 151 was shut down for about two hours.
