MILWAUKEE- Packers wide receiver Donald Driver is hard at work, training for his debut on the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars.
"I feel good, I feel good," said Driver in an interview with Wisconsin's Afternoon News with John Mercure on 620 WTMJ.
Donald Driver says he's ready to start dancing. Driver told Wisconsin's Afternoon News he practices dancing 5 hours a day -- that's after spending some time in the gym beforehand. "In the morning, (around) 8:30, I'm at the gym working out. I have a personal trainer down in LA, then from there I go straight to dance with Peta (Murgatroyd)" said Driver.
Peta Murgatroyd is Driver's dance partner on the show. He talked about having her as his dance co-star. "She's a doll. She's a sweetheart -- great person, great personality, great character.
Driver gave Wisconsin's Afternoon News a little preview about what to expect. "I think she loves the Cha-Cha; that's our first dance and I think we're nailing it."
The Packers all-time leader in receiving yards and receptions is hearing from some of his teammates, like wide receiver James Jones. "The person that really has picked up the phone and called me and had good words was James Jones. He just told me to make sure and go out there and 'do what I do' and don't get voted off first.
The couple's goal is to get past the first round, but Driver admits his sights are set higher than that.
Donald Driver says its surreal being in LA. "My wife said they saw Jennifer Hudson (Sunday) on the elevator and she was real down to earth," said Driver. "It's just been crazy, so you get to see all these people and you go 'Hey I'm a big fan' and they respond with 'hey I'm a big fan of yours too'"
The new season of Dancing with the Stars begins on Monday, March 19 on ABC.
