Quick-thinking deputies avoid serious injuries after patrol car is hit on I-894
WEST ALLIS - A close call Saturday morning for deputies responding to weather-related crash on I-894 in West Allis.
We're told sheriff squards were responding to a crash on the snowy, slushy interstate at 2 a.m. It happened near Cleveland Avenue.
A car lost control and started spinning toward them. The fast-acting deputies moved everyone standing outside over the median wall to safety on the other side--just before that sliding car hit the squad.
The sheriff's squad is totaled, but it's believed all the people who could have been in harms way will be OK. The Jeep's driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
