MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County Sheriff's spokeswoman says that invesigators are looking into whether someone attempted to flee the scene of a freeway crash before their vehicle rolled over.

The crash happened at about 10:05 a.m. Thursday on I-43 southbound near Locust Street in Milwaukee.

According to Sheriff's spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin, a 911 caller inside one of the vehicles involved told dispatchers that another vehicle hit them "broadside," and may have attempted to drive away from the crash scene before hitting the freeway median and rolling over.

North Shore Fire vehicles happened to drive by the scene of the crash and assisted the crash victims.

Milwaukee Fire crews had to extricate two people, including the 911 caller, from their vehicle.

Authorities had to close two lanes of the freeway while they assisted the crash victims and cleared the scene.

There was no initial word on any injuries.
