MADISON - It appears Republican leaders in the State Senate are tired of waiting for compromise on a controversial mining bill.

The GOP leader in the state senate has dissolved a special committee that was working on that compromise.

The move scraps the senate version of the bill.

Instead, Juneau Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald has introduced into the Joint Finance Committee a version of the bill that already passed the Assembly.

A company has proposed an iron ore mine in northern Wisconsin, but says it needs the change in regulation to move forward.

Environmentalists are concerned about relaxing standards.

Estimates are that the mine would create hundreds of jobs.
